Since I myself am pregnant (25 weeks today!), I am expecting that more expectant mothers are tuning in my blog. Hello, and I’m happy to share my journey with you! I am currently updating my maternity underwear. My panties are too tight now as my hips get wider. I’m afraid that our little darling is getting squished! My old bras are also too small on me now (the first thing I noted as far as physical changes go). My pre-pregnancy bra size was 34D, but I have not officially had my current pregnancy bust measured. In the past few months, I’ve just been living in cheap stretchy sports bras that expand in band size! Oh, about $5-7 on eBay and Ross! I was advised not to buy expensive bras in the first trimester, because I was told breasts will continue to grow, preparing for milk production. Now that I am nearing my third trimester, it’s probably time to shop!
On this topic, today’s guest post about shopping for maternity lingerie and undies might be of interest to you!

When pregnant, many women struggle with their self-image, thinking that the bump makes them less sexy than they were. The inevitable weight gain and hormones can sometimes make us feel a lot frumpier than we actually are, and they find it hard to believe that they’re actually sexy and beautiful, especially to their partners.
Often, we have to find our own way to improve how we feel, and an easy way to do this is by dressing in clothes that are as comfortable as possible, from the stylish maternity dresses down to the underwear and undergarments we wear. Most pregnant women don’t even give lingerie a second thought, thinking that being pregnant means not being able to wear sexy lingerie, but as the LA Times explains, wearing beautiful, comfortable lingerie is actually the secret to feeling sexy. “I tell my students that whether it’s a sexy panty or a bra — it needs to be comfortable whether you’re wearing it for 10 minutes or all day long,” says Mary Jo Bruno, a Redondo Beach-based lingerie designer who mentors fashion students at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. So how do pregnant women find the right underwear and lingerie?

The first thing to consider is the size, of course. As Adam & Eve’s Guide to Buying Lingerie explains, the easiest way to figure out what size to get is to raid your own closet. Find something that you’ve recently used, and know is comfortable, paying close attention to the label. When it comes to bras, there are three things to take note of: band, cup and strap size. The band is the circumference of the body at the bust, and you can find this on the label with the letter cup size. Most women don’t pay too much attention to the strap size, but because they actually offer the most support to the breasts, the general rule is: the larger the breast, the wider the straps should be.
It’s important to keep note of how your lingerie will affect your health as well. Many experts advise steering away from underwire bras, and tight underwear might squeeze too much on your bump. When it comes to maternity lingerie, it’s a good idea to get something that flows well over your hips, such as a babydoll, chemises, or robes. These don’t restrict movement, but there is still a whole host of choices of designs and styles to choose from. These are often the best choice for maternity lingerie, as they don’t hug the body too tightly, without adding too much bulk to your frame.
