From À LA MODEST
It’s that time of year when you really can’t get hold of people to hang out because everyone is out of town! It’s time to talk about travel fashion tips—specifically how to stay in style while keeping yourself comfortable. I’m also going to talk about… *ahem* comfortable panty liners! WHAT?
Comfort. That’s not really something you prioritize when you’re a dedicated fashionista. We suffer in heels and go that extra mile just to look beautiful. When you’re traveling, there’s a good reason to be somewhat…practical. I can’t believe I’m saying this! Now that I am pregnant too, I have to keep things somehow manageable. I am now at 27 weeks in and feeling heavy in the front!
I was at our hotel room at Candlewood Suites visiting my parents in Sterling, Virginia this past weekend, and I wore this outfit below (pardon my uncomfortable-looking-down-face):
What you can see:
- Skater dress – I bought several of these with different patterns on eBay for a super deal. Since it’s made in China, you have to overcompensate for the size! I have on an Asian size XL. Oh my. I am about a US size 6. Here’s another one of these dresses I wore recently. This dress is made of nylon, and it’s lightweight and just perfect for the summer heat. Checkerboard always reminds me of Twin Peaks. Skater dresses are great for maternity especially if they are high waist, so you can have good wiggle room around the tummy area!
- Accessories – For those who don’t like wearing jewelry much like me, I wore a fake white collar also from eBay and a jean vest to accessorize this dress! I love fake collars and vests. They help tone down the girliness of the dress. The vest unintentionally also hides that growing baby bump!
- Sneakers- What I have on actually has a small flatform! These are from Boohoo. I love them because white sneakers are so 50s, especially paired with a checkerboard skater dress! Plus, these are incredibly comfortable.
- Hair- Instead of just a regular ponytail (monotail), I sectioned my hair in two parts to do a high half pony. I left just a small amount of hair on the bottom to make the tail look extra long! This is an extremely easy variation to the common ponytail, especially when it’s hot out but you want something different!
What you can’t see:
- Sports bra- I’ve said this probably a bunch of times, but I really like wearing sports bras. It all started when I taught yoga regularly at the gym. They are very comfy too! They’re all I wear now throughout pregnancy, and I’m hardly even exercising!
- Comfortable panty liner- Yes. I’m going to have say it or no one else will. C’mon, summer + pregnancy? Yeah. Even when I wasn’t pregnant, I wore them! You gotta love our womanly hormones… they just don’t work well with expensive undies sometimes! I recommend U by Kotex Panty Liners. They are so comfy, you forget you have them on! Now, that’s my idea of comfortable panty liner! To make this post even more (un)comfortable for you, I took photos below of U by Kotex Curves Liners. Aren’t these so pretty?
